The week Ahead - w.c. 20th February 2012

Three ships return this week. Fred. Olsen’s Boudicca arrives for the first time this year on Thursday, 23rd February. ‘Indy’ is here on Friday, 24th February and Oceana returns on Sunday, heading for Spain, Cyprus, Egypt, Israel, Greece and Sicily.

What’s On in Southampton for visiting cruise passengers?

Southampton offers a wonderful array of art this season. The Civic Art Gallery is exhibiting a show on Roland Penrose and British Surrealism. Also on show is Franke Dicksee’s painting, Romeo and Juliet, recently voted the most romantic painting by a survey from the UK's Art Fund.

At Solent University, there’s a range of artwork from over 100 artists inspired by Olympic and Para Olympic experiences and images and at the Hansard Gallery, David Cotterall’s thought provoking exhibition on Afghanistan.

The Nuns are in town!

The Mayflower Theatre flips on pancake day to Sister Act until 3rd March. Offenbach's operetta, Orpheus in the Underworld runs from 21st-25th February at the Nuffield Theatre.

A dinner and mini exhibition by SOLE (Southampton Ocean Liner Exhibtion) in honor of RMS Queen Mary is being hosted by Antico Steak House on Wednesday, 22nd February. Dame Cleo Lane wll be at the Concorde Club on the same evening.

Thursday sees a ZZ Top tribute act and on Friday, 24th February Gerry from Across the Mersey, a tribute band both at the Concorde Club.

On Saturday, you can see some of the South’s top dance acts at Turner Sims and in the evening, there is dinner/party night at The Vestry with a Tom Jones tribute act.

Finally on Sunday it’s all laughs at the Comedy Bar at the Nuffield or why not head to the Concorde Club for a blues fest with the New Orleans Heat Band.
